Race week is here!!! I can’t believe I will be running my FIRST half-marathon! Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend is February 15-17, 2013 (race day being Sunday, February 17th). Although I’ve been training for over the past 8 months, I’m still nervous, excited, scared, happy and so many other emotions! I’m stoked that a lot of friends are participating, including my RivFit Crew and Black Girls RUN! — Birmingham. It will be a great, fun-filled day! Right before my trip to Hawaii I ran the trial run and it went well. For those who don’t know 13.1 miles = half marathon. Yes — 13 miles!

About the race:

“Now in its 12th year, the Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend of events has become a Birmingham tradition. The event has helped to raise more than $4 million for local charities. Our 2012 event was our biggest to date and included more than 11,000 runners and walkers of all ages, shapes and sizes and was used by participants to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for various local charities.” You can read more about it here!

This will be such an amazing experience and I’m looking forward to crossing the finish line! I’ll let you know how everything goes Post-Race!

FLASHBACK!

Here are some moments from my first 10K! In September 2012, I participated in the First Inaugural Black Girls RUN! – Drive to End Hunger 10K in Atlanta, GA. What an incredible experience it was! Seeing so many women of all ages, shapes, sizes get out there for a great cause and most importantly their HEALTH! There were even some men out there participating too!
